MiG-31 'Foxhound' interceptors

The 57th Guard Fighter Air Regiment PVO received the new MiG-31 'Foxhound' interceptor type in 1990, replaced their older Su-15TM ‘Flagon-F’ type. The modern MiG-31 'Foxhound' air defense fighter fitted with air-to-air refueling probe.

Later the regiment sent a detachment with MiG-31 'Foxhound' type to the cold Norilsk airport in north Siberia. They didn't have a hangar or hardened shelter during the hard winter at the Norilsk airport.
 

The detachment of the 57th Guard Fighter Air Regiment PVO remained at the Norilsk airport until 1993. The 57th guard regiment moved from Besovets and Norilsk airports to Kansk airport in South Siberia and merged with the local 712th Fighter Air Regiment PVO in 1993.
